Open Question: I lost my coat at the Hilton hotel coat check, is the hotel responsible for it?

I went to a New Year function at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center on New Year Eve with a couple of friends, we check in our coats to the coat check, when we were ready to leave, I turn in my coat stub for my coat and discover they have lost my coat, I talk to the hotel security director, he said he will file paper work with the insurance company and the insurance company will contact me, he said he is not sure if I will be reimburse for my coat, I'm really upset, it is a COACH coat, my best coat, any suggestion will be appreciated....
